Last July upon a nice fine day,
Twenty lads and lassies on a picnic went away.
I was there wae my lass, helpin' wae the fun.
O, we had a rare time basking in the sun.
The pipers they were playing as we danc'd upon the green.
Ev'ry one was "Hoochin" just to liven up the scene.
I said "Here chaps! let us play "Kiss in th Ring!"
and when a fellow kiss'd a lass we all began to sing:

Chorus

Ev'ry laddie loves a lassie
Whether she be dark or fair,
And ev'ry lassie loves a laddie,
Just because her love lies there.

Verse 2
Ev'ry bonnie lassie that was there
Wore a lovely bow o' tartan ribbon in her hair;
But the lass that I had fairly bang'd the lot!
I wasn't goin' to tell ye, but her name is Sarah Scott.
Her cheeks are always bloomin' and her eyes are full o' love,
And ev'ry time she smiles they twinkle like the stars above.
So I said "Here chaps! if you think that we,
Love our sweethearts as we should, sing this song wae me:

Chorus

Verse 3
I must tell ye how I did enjoy
The fun we had, it took me back to when I was a boy.
I whisper'd to my bonnie Sarah, "Are ye fond o' me?"
"Ach!" she said, "I'll never tell ye, till ye squeeze it oot o' me!"
The fun was fast and furious it was a sicht to see,
Twenty bonnie lassies sitting on their kiltie's knee!
I said, "Here chaps! whenever I wave my cane,
I want ye a' to cuddle yer lass, then sing wae might and main.

Chorus
